One more thought to help you diminish anger and hatred:
After almost 4 decades living in this World, I have come to realize one thing ---
The Law of Action and Reaction is very true in us humans.
We should take advantage of this law. A person who constantly reflects and observe the things around him can master the principles of success and achieve almost up to perfection.
He would think to himself - if somebody is mad at him or is criticizing him then obviously he is doing something wrong or inappropriate. Instead of getting back at that other person, he would thank him either verbally or through feelings of gratitude, and use that "reaction" as a hint to point to what could be the problem. If he is 100% sure that there is really no problem, or that is is not heading the wrong direction in life, then he can consider the fact that the criticizing person could possibly be misinformed, misled or there has been a lack of communication - and think of ways he can help the other person -- see the light-- without offending his feelings.
The fact of the matter is -- people hate to be criticized so we should try to be indirect or sublime in pointing other person's mistake. Unless of course its too urgent to beat around the bush or if he is not really getting it.
