the Unexpected Visitor

Image
On my way home, I saw a young woman, probably in her early 30s lying down unconscious  on the Ebisu train platform, close to the stairs.  There were 3 people kneeling next to her, a woman, feeling the pulse on her neck and a man feeling the pulse on her wrist, looking at each other and shaking their  heads, while the other guy looks at the woman's ID.  They were probably saying, she's dead as one is looking at his watch to note down that time for her relatives or the police.  Her family probably thought it is just an ordinary day and is expecting her to be home anytime soon.  It is sad to imagine their grief once they found out. We'll never know when is Mr. Death going to visit us so we should make the best our lives. We should not hesitate express our feelings for our loved ones, before its too late.

The driver, an aged man went around his car to look at the victim and was shocked by what he saw. Several people rushed to the scene. I left the scene and went home wondering what could have happened to these 2 men. For both these men, it was just supposed to be a routinely evening of an ordinary day. But I am sure this event would change both their lives forever. The driver might be imprisoned and lose his freedom and the pedestrian might lose his ability to walk or his life. I am not to judge whose fault was this accident. But the lesson is clear - let us not take each moment of our life for granted. Although it may be sometimes ...
